Probiotic Spinach-Mango-Banana Smoothie

My breakfast normally consists of a green smoothie blended in my Nutribullet.. There are so many variations of this healthy beverage that you really can’t go wrong with what you toss in it. Recently I started occasionally adding probiotics to my smoothies after purchasing some powder to use in a cleanse.

Probiotics ( good bacteria)  help you have a healthy digestive system, keep your immune system up to par, and stave off allergens. It also aids in urinary health.  If you have ever had a urinary tract infection you know the pain that causes. Consider incorporating some probiotics in your diet for the overall health benefits.

Besides as a powdered supplement,  they can be found naturally in foods such as unflavored yogurt, sauerkraut, kimchi, kefir (a fermented milk drink), and pickles! You can also find it in fermented soybean products such as tempeh and miso.

Probiotic Green Smoothie (serves 2)

In your bullet or blender add

  • 1 banana
  • 1 cup of spinach
  • 1 tbsp of probiotic powder (I used the Inulin brand)
  • 1/2 cup frozen or fresh mango chunks (add 5 ice cubes if you use fresh mango)
  • 1/2 cup non dairy milk of your choice (I used vanilla coconut milk)
  • 1/2 cup of filtered water

Blend until smooth, add more liquid if too thick. Enjoy!
